Initial information provided advised the young male swimmer was last observed east of Bridge of the Gods, near Thunder Island. The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office boat was deployed in an effort to locate the missing swimmer. Several deputies also responded on land to assist in the effort. Numerous agencies, including Washington State Fish and Wildlife, United States Coast Guard, and Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Enforcement, were also involved in the search. The search was unsuccessful and further efforts were made on 05/18/2023. At the time of this release, the swimmer has not been located.
